Running shoes are a woman’s best friend…..

“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world, this is what Marilyn Monroe said, but better still give the woman a pair of running shoes and she will discover herself!

I hate pears! simply because an Indian woman is said to have a pear shaped body. We can blame the Caucasian genes for giving the Indian woman, a smaller frame, wider hips, bigger tummy and prospering thighs but we cannot blame anyone for being exercise averse and lazy.

It is surprising how the urban women totally lack motivation to remain fit and even if they do it is very shortlived, no sooner motherhood showers its grace, women are seen happily floating around as penguins. Gathering weight around the hips, waist and tummy may indicate signs of prospering bank balance and a growing family but more importantly it shows the deteroirating state of health and mind.

I am attempting to share some tips that can get any woman started on a journey of self discovery and happiness. Watch it girls! the frustrating alterations to that jeans will vanish as the dress sizes start dropping.

Eat breakfast: Start the day off right with a healthy breakfast. No Parathas, pooris please….A serving of whole grains, a serving of fruit and a glass of milk or low-fat yogurt and some protein.

Eat something every few hours. Eating after a gap of 2 hrs will surely ensure that one overeats.

Eat carbs! ” Healthy carbs include grains, beans, starchy vegetables, fruit and milk.

No to masala chai… just plain water and plenty of it.

Once a week is indulgence day, drink and eat anything, it is proven that this infact helps in faster metabolism.

Surprise the body, run, jog, walk, climb alternate the exercising.

Women need to respect themselves and listen to their bodies. Kids, home, partners and careers are important but not to the extent of neglecting one’s health. Just slip into a running gear and good shoes and simply set off. Who needs diamonds when one can look and feel like a million bucks!
